be pleased to state:- |
(a) whether the Government proposes to formulate rules for installing reflectors on the vehicles plying on the National Highways during the night;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government in this regard;
(c) whether the Government proposes to take action against vehicles without reflectors; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? |

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI MAHADEO SINGH KHANDELA)
(a) to (d) Rule 104 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 already prescribes fitment of reflectors on motor vehicles including trailers, semi-trailers, construction equipment vehicles, agricultural tractors, power tillers etc.
Enforcement of the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 as well as action against the defaulters is the responsibility of the concerned state governments. |
