The National Research Centres and the Regional station are mandated to conduct research in the areas
of production, management, health and animal products technology of camel and equine respectively.

The Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Conservation of Threatened Breeds of Livestock under which financial assistance has been provided to set up nucleus breeding units of several horse and camel breeds.
